Burger King preparing to open in Russia

6 November 2009

Burger King is preparing to open its first outlet in Russia, the local press reported. The chain first announced its intention to enter the market over a year ago and registered a Russian subsidiary, Burger King Rus, in February 2009. Billboards in Moscow are now advertising a ‘soon-to-open’ Burger King restaurant in Mega Teply Stan mall. Local reports suggest the license holders for the first location is Shokoladnitsa (a Russian coffee shop chain) and St Petersburg based Adamant holding. However, Burger King has not yet confirmed any of these reports.
