Metro Group Media Markt to expand in Russia

Metro Group-owned consumer electronics retailer Media Markt plans to open between five to eight stores in Russia in 2009, according to a statement from Banner Director Bernd Guralchik. Cities targeted for stores include Moscow, St Petersburg, Samara, Tolyatti and Kazan. Media Markt entered the Russian market in December 2006 and currently operates 14 stores in the country.
